The Latin Grammy Nominations in the category of:

Best Flamenco Album
  • Antonio Cortés  Cuando Quieras

This is Antonio Cortés’s second recording release: Cuando Quieras…, that is, Cuando Quieras, donde quieras, como quieras. Although is has been nominated in the flamenco category, the music which Antonio Cortés performs is quite a mix of styles including jazz, boleros, fado and of course, some flamenco. Performing on the recording are some veteren players: Sole Giménez, Jorge Pardo, Carles Benavent, Tino Di Geraldo, Jorge Pardo, and believe or not, Rocío Jurado (1946-2006)!

  • Paco de Lucía  En Vivo Conciertos España 2010

This was released as a two-CD and DVD collection and was much awaited by fans who hadn’t seen a recording release since Cositas Buenas in 2003. The recording were made live (en vivo) during his concerts in 2010. Paco de Lucía said he missed doing a recording and enjoyed the spontaneity and fun of making the recording live. In his own words:

This is the flamenco guitarist Niño Josele’s seventh recording. It has some very unpretentious old-style solo playing that is refreshing to hear. On later tracks he is joined by: Tomatito (A mi Compadre Antonio); Paco de Lucía (Caribeña); and Estrella Morente (Granada Enamora). Goosebumps! El Mar de Mi Ventana has been released on Warner Jazz

  • Diana Navarro  Flamenco

Maybe the name of the flamenco singer Diana Navarro is not so familiar, but she has won prizes at numerous flamenco competitions in Spain and made her first rercording No Te Olvides de Mí in 2005 with a mix of styles, for which she gained a Latin Grammy Nomination. Flamenco is another ‘live’ recording from her performance in the Teatro Quintero in Seville in July 2011.
